"What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient... highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed - fully understood - that sticks; right in there somewhere."

memoirI had a wonderful opportunity to work with these two amazing actors: Bastiaan Tsavo Raath and Nakita Kohan for my third short film during the New York Film Academy. I actually had them on my A-list when I submitted the actor request sheet. Since we had to compete one another for our choice of actors, we may not get the people we wanted. Luckily, I got both of my preferred actor and actress. Shooting during the summer of LA was really unpleasant. IT WAS HOT! I find it quite challenging to stay in focus while sweating and parching under the sun. Finally I managed to get the shots I needed despite all the challenges that were present. I learned a lot since then, including how to make quick and right decisions for the shoot, communicating clearly to the cast and crew, and also importantly time management. | aboutTrance is a short film that I wrote, edited, and directed during the 4 weeks digital film production course offered by the New York Film Academy. Rekahan Fajar was the first film I made which needed more than a month to produce - from developing the script and securing the locations, to cutting the clips and scoring the music, Rekahan Fajar was the most complex short film I produced from September 2012 to January 2013. It was intended as an entry for the XXI short film festival, but as I was about to export the movie, the film project got corrupted unexpectedly just a day before submission deadline. I was completely dismayed by the fact that all the hard work we put in this film failed to even get a chance of being submitted into the competition. Nevertheless, I decided to finish the final bits of the film by editing the last several clips and combining it with the 'raw' final product of the film that I luckily exported days before the project became corrupt. So I hope you guys enjoy and appreciate this piece of film that had my persistence tested :) | Synopsis: Erik (Brandon Subhekti) stood on the brink of his life as he reminisced about his dark past: suffused with murder, debts and losses. His interpretation of the 'cruel' world he gullibly judged suddenly shifted as Amel (Jacqueline) came into picture to explore their common experience on grief and demise.
