"Luck is everything... My good luck in life was to be a really frightened person. I'm fortunate to be a coward, to have a low threshold of fear, because a hero couldn't make a good suspense film."
-Alfred Hitchcock Here is a paper I wrote for my Art of Television class with Dan Watanabe about how actors struggle, survive and thrive within the film industry: "You need to have a lateral thinking;
If you can't come from the front door, then try the back door. If you can't come from the back door, go through the window. If you can't go through the window, then try the chimney." -Charles Roven (Producer of The Dark Knight Trilogy, Batman vs Superman, Warcraft.) Here is a paper I wrote for my Art of Television class with Dan Watanabe about how one TV show revolutionized the TV Industry: "I think cinema, movies, and magic have always been closely associated.
The very earliest people who made film were magicians." -Francis Ford Coppola "Power is a lot like real estate; it's all about location, location, location.
The closer you are to the source, the higher your property value." -Francis J. Underwood, House of Cards (2013) There are 3 types of screenwriters: scene person, story person and character person. Find out which element of these 3 is your strong point.
Scene person is good at making advertisements and commercials, story person is good at developing feature length films, while character person is good at creating sitcoms (situation comedies) or other character driven plays. Focus on your strong point, develop it, and eventually expand your ability on all 3 types of screenwriting. But knowing which area and skills you're good at is really beneficial to your repertoire to secure a position within the industry. (Concluded from Art of Television class with Dan Watanabe) "Risk is what keeps us young, isn't it, darling?"
-Leah Belfort, The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) "What is the most resilient parasite? Bacteria? A virus? An intestinal worm? An idea. Resilient... highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed - fully understood - that sticks; right in there somewhere."

memoirI had a wonderful opportunity to work with these two amazing actors: Bastiaan Tsavo Raath and Nakita Kohan for my third short film during the New York Film Academy. I actually had them on my A-list when I submitted the actor request sheet. Since we had to compete one another for our choice of actors, we may not get the people we wanted. Luckily, I got both of my preferred actor and actress. Shooting during the summer of LA was really unpleasant. IT WAS HOT! I find it quite challenging to stay in focus while sweating and parching under the sun. Finally I managed to get the shots I needed despite all the challenges that were present. I learned a lot since then, including how to make quick and right decisions for the shoot, communicating clearly to the cast and crew, and also importantly time management. | aboutTrance is a short film that I wrote, edited, and directed during the 4 weeks digital film production course offered by the New York Film Academy. Rekahan Fajar was the first film I made which needed more than a month to produce - from developing the script and securing the locations, to cutting the clips and scoring the music, Rekahan Fajar was the most complex short film I produced from September 2012 to January 2013. It was intended as an entry for the XXI short film festival, but as I was about to export the movie, the film project got corrupted unexpectedly just a day before submission deadline. I was completely dismayed by the fact that all the hard work we put in this film failed to even get a chance of being submitted into the competition. Nevertheless, I decided to finish the final bits of the film by editing the last several clips and combining it with the 'raw' final product of the film that I luckily exported days before the project became corrupt. So I hope you guys enjoy and appreciate this piece of film that had my persistence tested :) | Synopsis: Erik (Brandon Subhekti) stood on the brink of his life as he reminisced about his dark past: suffused with murder, debts and losses. His interpretation of the 'cruel' world he gullibly judged suddenly shifted as Amel (Jacqueline) came into picture to explore their common experience on grief and demise.
